Farmers may have the need to burn materials on their farms from time to time. Ohio law includes restrictions on open burning, which are enforced by Ohio EPA and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in an effort to minimize air pollution and wildfire risks. Agriculture is exempt from burning restrictions but not all.
Key Points:
- Burning agricultural products is regulated by ODNR and OEPA.
- Municipalities may have burn restrictions more strict than Ohio law.
- Violating burning laws can create fines of $1,000 and liability issues.
