PRODUCERS with labor-intensive operations face multiple challenges in managing their workforce. They not only have to find and manage the labor, but they also must stay in compliance with the many labor laws and regulations. One of the more prominent of these laws is the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The FLSA is the federal law that sets minimum wage, overtime, record keeping and child labor standards. Any employer who utilized more than 500 “many days” of agricultural labor in any calendar quarter of the preceding calendar year is subject to FLSA.
